200 g butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups plain flour
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup corn flakes , slightly crushed
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
1 cup icing sugar
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
3 tablespoons water
walnuts ( to decorate )
Afghan Biscuits are a popular sweet treat in New Zealand, often served on special occasions or as a snack with a warm cup of tea or coffee. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C /160°C Fan/Gas mark 4.
2.In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar.
3.Sift in the flour and cocoa powder, then stir in the crushed cornflakes and desiccated coconut.
4.Shape the mixture into 16-20 balls and place them on a baking tray lined with baking parchment. There should be a slight space between each ball as they will spread while cooking.
5.Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 mins, or until lightly golden.
6.Meanwhile, for the icing, sift the icing sugar and cocoa powder into a bowl and mix in the water to form a smooth, runny icing.
7.Once the biscuits have cooled completely, drizzle them with the chocolate icing and top with a walnut each.
