Swiss Meringue Buttercream is a classic frosting that is perfect for cakes, cupcakes or other baked goods. It's much less sweet than traditional American buttercream and has an airy texture thanks to the egg whites. The silky texture of Swiss Meringue Buttercream makes it perfect for spreading and piping, and it looks great on cakes with a smooth finish. This recipe is very simple and quick to make and yields enough frosting to cover a 10-inch cake.

Instructions

1.In a heat-proof bowl, whisk egg whites and sugar to combine.

3.Remove the bowl from the heat and use a stand mixer or handheld mixer to whisk the mixture until stiff, glossy peaks form.
4.Gradually add in butter a few tablespoons at a time, whipping until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
5.Add salt and continue to beat the mixture until it reaches a spreadable consistency.
