2 cups all-purpose flour , sifted
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cooking oil
warm water , as needed

Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the sifted all-purpose flour and salt and mix them well.
2.Stir in the cooking oil and using your fingertips rub in the oil until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
3.Add the warm water a little at a time onto the flour mixture until it forms a soft, elastic, and non-sticky dough.
4.Knead the dough for about 10 minutes till smooth and stretchy.
5.Divide the dough into 8-10 equal portions and roll each one into a thin circle.
6.Heat a non-stick skillet or tawa and place the rolled chapati onto the skillet.
7.Cook the chapati for about a minute or so on both sides until it puffs up and cooks through, brush some oil or butter or ghee over the surface and cook again till golden brown.
8.Repeat the process with the remaining dough portions.
