24 phyllo dough , leaves ( half a box )
1/2 cup butter
2 cups finely chopped hickory nuts ( try walnuts or pecans )
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 cup dandelion syrup
4 cups dandelion flowers
4 cups water
4 cups sugar
1/2 lemons or 1/2 orange , chopped , including peel

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.Combine the chopped hickory nuts, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl and mix well.
3.Melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave.
4.Unroll the phyllo dough and cut it to fit the size of the baking dish.
5.Brush the bottom and sides of the dish with melted butter.
6.Arrange six sheets of phyllo in the dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
7.Sprinkle half of the nut mixture over the phyllo.
8.Repeat layering with six more sheets of phyllo and the remaining nut mixture.
9.Top with the remaining six sheets of phyllo, brushing each layer with melted butter.
10.Cut through the top layers of phyllo to form diamond-shaped pieces.
11.Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until golden brown and crisp.
12.Meanwhile, make the dandelion blossom syrup. Combine the dandelion flowers, water, sugar, chopped lemons or oranges, and dandelion syrup in a saucepan.
13.Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 1 hour.
14.Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve and discard the solids. Let the syrup cool.
15.Pour the cooled syrup over the baklava while it is still hot.
16.Let the baklava soak up the syrup for at least 2 hours before serving.
