Ingredients

1 kg meat , with bones i like lamb shanks ( any )
2 teaspoons baharat , spice
salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons tomato paste
4 carrots , sliced julienne
1/2 cup chickpeas , soaked overnight ( note I usually do a lot and then freeze them )
water
1 whole garlic , peeled and whole
1 -2 hot green chili pepper
1/2 teaspoon sugar ( optional )
3 -4 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F.
2.Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add meat and cook until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
3.Add baharat spice, salt, pepper, and tomato paste to the skillet and stir until well combined.
4.Add carrot slices, chickpeas, garlic, and hot chili peppers, and stir to combine.
5.Transfer mixture to a large casserole dish and add enough water to cover.
6.Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for 2-3 hours, or until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.
7.Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes until the top is slightly browned.
8.Serve hot.
