Ingredients

3 1/2 cups plain flour
1/4 ounce plain dried yeast
2 1/2 cups lukewarm water
1 teaspoon sugar
corn oil ( for frying )
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 lemon , juice of , squeezed
Sweet Ramadan Dumplings, also known as Lokmit Ady, are popular dough dumplings that originate from the Middle East. They're typically enjoyed during the holy month of Ramadan as a dessert after breaking the daily fast. These little golden dough balls are usually crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and they're soaked in a lemon-infused syrup, which adds a lovely tang to each bite. They're commonly served at family gatherings and are always a crowd-pleaser.

Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and dried yeast.
2.In another bowl, mix lukewarm water, 1 teaspoon sugar, and lemon juice.
3.Gradually add the liquid mixture into the flour and yeast mixture and mix until a smooth batter is formed.
4.Cover the mixture and let it ferment at room temperature for 4 hours.
5.Heat corn oil in a deep frying pan.
6.With the help of your hand and wet fingers, take some batter and drop small balls of it into the hot oil.
7.Cook the balls until their color turns golden brown.
8.Once done, remove them from heat and place on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
9.In a separate pot, mix 2 cups sugar with 1 cup of water and let the mixture cook over medium heat until sugar is fully melted.
10.Add lemon juice to the sugar syrup and let it simmer for 5 more minutes.
11.Remove the pot from heat and dip the fried dumplings into the syrup in small batches.
12.Leave the dumplings in the syrup for around 5 minutes. Then, remove and serve in a dish.
