Ingredients

1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon split Bengal gram ( chana dal )
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/8 teaspoon asafoetida powder
2 tomatoes , chopped
1 green chile pepper , chopped
2 cups plain yogurt
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Instructions

1.Heat the olive oil in a small frying pan over medium-high heat.
2.Add the split Bengal gram and mustard seeds and fry until the mustard seeds start to pop.
3.Add the asafoetida powder and fry for a few more seconds.
4.Add the chopped tomatoes and green chile pepper and fry for 3-4 minutes until the tomatoes are soft.
5.Remove from heat.
6.In a mixing bowl, whisk the plain yogurt and salt together.
7.Add the cooked tomato mixture to the yogurt and mix well.
8.Sprinkle the chopped cilantro on top and serve chilled.
