Ingredients

1/4 cup cooking oil
12 cashews
2 dried red chile peppers
1 teaspoon cumin seed
1 teaspoon mustard seed
10 black peppercorns
1 pinch asafoetida powder
1 cup split yellow lentils ( moong dal )
1 cup rice
1/2 cup shredded coconut
2 green chile peppers , chopped
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
salt to taste
3 1/2 cups water
2 tablespoons ghee
1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves
1/4 cup shredded coconut

Instructions

1.In a pressure cooker, heat cooking oil on medium heat and add cashews. Fry until golden brown. Remove and keep aside.
2.In the same oil, add dried red chili peppers, cumin seed, mustard seed, black peppercorns, and asafoetida powder. Fry for 30 seconds.
3.Add the split yellow lentils and rice to the cooker and fry for 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
4.Add shredded coconut, green chili peppers, ground turmeric, salt, and water. Mix well.
5.Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on medium-high heat until 3 whistles.
6.After the pressure is released, open the lid and add ghee, cilantro leaves, and shredded coconut. Mix well.
