Gulab Jamun is a popular dessert in India, especially during festivals and celebrations. These sweet, syrupy dumplings are typically fried, but this baked version is a healthier alternative that still satisfies your sweet tooth. Made with milk powder and flour, these dumplings are extra light and fluffy, making them the perfect sponge for the sweet syrup. Serve them warm with a scoop of ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
2.In a mixing bowl, combine the milk powder, self-rising flour, and butter.
3.Add milk gradually, mixing until a smooth dough is formed.
4.Shape the dough into small balls, then place them on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden-brown.
5.While the dumplings are baking, prepare the syrup by combining the confectioners' sugar, white sugar, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then let simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the syrup thickens.
6.Once the dumplings are finished baking, remove them from the oven and immediately drop them into the hot syrup. Let the dumplings soak for at least 20 minutes before serving.
