Ingredients

1 pound ground pork
1 cup finely chopped raw shrimp

1 package spring roll wrappers
1 egg white , beaten
1 quart vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

1.In a mixing bowl, add the ground pork, raw shrimp, onion, carrots, green onions, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and MSG (if using).
2.Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
3.Lay a spring roll wrapper on a clean and dry surface, with one corner facing towards you.
4.Spoon 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture onto the wrapper, closer to the corner facing you, and shape the filling into a log-like structure.
5.Roll the corner nearest to you over the filling, tucking it under the filling, and roll it gently but tightly to form a cylinder.
6.Fold the left and the right corners over the filling, towards the center, and continue to roll tightly until the end of the wrapper.
7.Seal the edge of the wrapper with the beaten egg white; repeat the process with the remaining filling and wrappers.
8.In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil over medium to high heat, deep-fry the lumpia until golden brown, turning occasionally until all sides are evenly cooked and crispy.
9.Remove and drain the excess oil off on a paper towel, and serve hot with sweet chili sauce or spicy vinegar dip.
