Fa Gao is a traditional Chinese cake that is popularly served during special occasions, especially during the Chinese New Year. The cake's unique texture and flavor are due to the steaming process that it undergoes during the cooking process. Typically, it is served plain without any sauce or garnish, making it an excellent accompaniment to tea or coffee. Raisins can be added to the cake to give it an extra punch of fruity sweetness. The cake's appearance could vary according to the molds used to steam it - usually, it is white and fluffy with a slightly cracked surface.
