2 tablespoons vegetable oil
8 ounces Chinese dried mushrooms , soaked overnight in water
1/3 cup dried shrimp , soaked in water overnight and drained
1 pound pork sausage , sliced
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 slices fresh ginger root
3 turnips , shredded
1 1/2 teaspoons Chinese five-spice powder
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules
1 tablespoon ground white pepper
2/3 pound white rice flour

Instructions

1.Soak the dried mushrooms and dried shrimp overnight in water and drain.

3.Remove the pork sausage and set aside. In the same wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and stir-fry the ginger until fragrant.
4.Add the shredded turnips, dried mushrooms, and dried shrimp to the wok and stir-fry for 5 minutes.
5.Add the Chinese five-spice powder, salt, chicken bouillon granules, and ground white pepper to the mixture in the wok.
6.Mix the rice flour with 2 1/2 cups of water. Pour the rice flour mixture into the wok and stir continuously until the mixture becomes thick and lumpy.
7.Mix in the cooked pork sausage. Pour the mixture into a greased 10-inch cake pan and smooth the surface.
8.Steam the turnip cake for 45 minutes or until set. Let the cake cool before slicing it into pieces.
