Brick-Oven Pizza (Brooklyn Style) is a classic American favorite, known for its thin and crispy crust made from a high-protein dough that's cooked at a high temperature in a brick oven or on a pizza stone. This recipe replicates the authentic taste of Brooklyn-style pizza, with a tangy tomato sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil leaves. The combination of these simple ingredients makes for a delicious and hearty meal that's perfect for sharing with friends and family. While pizza is often considered a comfort food, it can still be enjoyed as part of a healthy and balanced diet by choosing wholesome toppings like vegetables, lean proteins, and whole-grain crusts.

Instructions

.In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let stand until creamy, for about 10 minutes.
.In a large bowl, mix together the cold water, salt, and bread flour until the dough comes together. Add the yeast mixture and stir well to combine.
.Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
.Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for about 1 to 2 hours in a warm and draft-free area.
.Preheat the oven to 550°F (285°C) for at least 30 minutes before baking. In a small bowl, mix the crushed tomatoes, black pepper, oregano, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
.Roll out the dough to about 12 inches in diameter and place it on a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal.
.Add the tomato sauce, sliced mozzarella cheese, and torn basil leaves. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil on top.
.Slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
.Remove from the oven, slice, and serve hot.
