Ingredients

1 bone-in pork shoulder roast
1 cup root beer
2 1/2 tablespoons light brown sugar

Instructions

1.In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, kosher salt, black pepper, paprika, dry mustard, onion powder, garlic salt, celery salt, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
2.Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
3.Put the pork in the slow cooker and pour in the root beer, balsamic vinegar, and whiskey.
4.Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is very tender.
5.Remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board.
6.Pull the pork apart with two forks.
7.In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the barbecue sauce and whisk to combine.
8.Return the pulled pork to the slow cooker and pour the barbecue sauce over the top. Stir to combine.
9.Cook on low for another 30-60 minutes, until the pork is heated through. Serve on hamburger buns.
