Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan with unsweetened cocoa powder.
2.Melt coarsely chopped semi-sweet chocolate squares and butter in the top of a double boiler, stirring occasionally until smooth. Allow to cool.
3.In a large bowl, beat egg yolks and vanilla extract with an electric mixer until pale and doubled in volume. Mix in sugar, chocolate chips, and crushed almonds. Fold in melted chocolate mixture.
4.In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into chocolate mixture.
5.Pour batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder.
