Ingredients

4 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 pounds lean ground beef
4 onions , chopped
salt and pepper to taste
1 pinch ground cinnamon ( optional )
1/8 cup crushed walnuts
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups warm water

Instructions

1.In a skillet over medium-high heat, sauté beef in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil until browned.

3.Add 1/8 cup of crushed walnuts and cook for one more minute. Remove from heat and let cool.
4.In a mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
5.Add 2 eggs and 1 1/2 cups warm water and mix until the dough is formed.
6.On a floured surface, knead the dough until it's smooth.
7.Divide the dough into four pieces. On a floured surface, roll out each piece thinly.
8.Cut the dough into 2-inch squares. On each square, place a heaping teaspoon of the meat filling.
9.Fold the dough in half to form a triangle and press the edges to seal them.
10.In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.
11.Drop in the kreplach, a few at a time, and simmer until they float to the top. It takes about 5 minutes.
12.Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a serving plate. Top with sautéed onions if desired.
