Ingredients

2 onions , cut into large chunks
1 carrot , cut into large chunks
2 pounds whitefish fillets
1/2 cup cold water
1/4 cup matzo meal
1 egg
2 egg whites
2 teaspoons white sugar
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
freshly ground black pepper to taste

The ground fish mixture is seasoned with vegetables and spices and then typically stuffed into a fish skin or mold, boiled, and served chilled with horseradish. In this recipe, we have created Individual Servings of Gefilte Fish, which are small portions that are baked instead of boiled. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2.Combine onions and carrot in a food processor and pulse until finely chopped but not pureed.
3.Add whitefish fillets, water, matzo meal, egg, egg whites, sugar, vegetable oil, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Puree mixture until smooth.
4.Spoon mixture into 12 lightly greased ramekins.
5.Place ramekins in a baking dish, and add enough boiling water to the baking dish to come 2 inches up the sides of the ramekins.
6.Bake in the preheated oven until set, about 40 minutes.
7.Cool slightly and serve.
