1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup white sugar
3/8 - 3/4 cup unsalted butter , softened
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
6 tablespoons milk

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9-inch round cake pan and cover the bottom with parchment paper.
2.In a small saucepan, mix brown sugar, butter, maple syrup, and walnuts. Heat over low heat until butter is melted and the mixture is smooth.
3.Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and place the banana slices evenly on top of the mixture.
4.In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
5.In another bowl, beat sugar and butter together until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
6.Gradually add in the dry ingredients mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.
7.Pour the batter over the bananas and spread it evenly.
8.Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
9.Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
10.Invert the pan onto a serving plate and carefully lift off the pan. Remove the parchment paper.
