Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 350F (175C).
2.In small saucepan over low heat, warm the milk and poppy seeds for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3.Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl until light and fluffy.
4.Beat the eggs, vanilla, lemon rind, and lemon juice together in a separate bowl.
5.Mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder in another bowl.
6.Gradually beat the egg mixture into the creamed butter mixture and blend well.
7.Stir in the poppy seed mixture.
8.Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and blend well.
9.Pour the mixture into a greased and floured loaf pan.
10.Bake for 60-70 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the middle of the bread comes out clean.
11.While the loaf is baking, mix together butter, milk, icing sugar, and lemon juice until smooth for the icing.
12.Once the loaf is done allow it to cool and add the icing on top then sprinkle with poppy seeds. Enjoy!
