Ingredients

1 cup loosely packed brown sugar
1 cup unsalted butter , slightly softened
1 cup dried cherries
1 cup slivered almonds
2 large eggs
1 -2 tablespoon golden syrup ( optional )
2 cups self-raising flour
1 1/2 cups flaked oats
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 175 C. Grease or line a baking sheet.
2.Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl until it becomes light.
3.Fold in the eggs, golden syrup, and baking soda. Beat with a wooden spoon until well combined.
4.Add the flour and the oats together. Mix until well combined.
5.Mix together the dried cherries and almonds.

7.Roll mixture into small balls, each ball around 2-3cm in diameter.
8.Spoon the balls onto the baking sheets, spacing them out to the size of a walnut, and flattening them slightly with your hand.
9.Bake the cookies for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven, and let them cool on the baking sheet for around 5 minutes until they're firm enough to transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
