Torrijas, also known as Spanish French toast, are a popular breakfast food in Spain. The traditional recipe calls for day-old bread to be soaked in a sweet milk mixture, then fried until golden brown and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. The result is a sweet and filling dish that is perfect for a lazy weekend morning. While similar to French toast, torrijas are typically sweeter and more indulgent, making them a special treat for those who enjoy a sweet breakfast.

Instructions

1.In a shallow dish, mix together the cinnamon and sugar until well combined.
2.In a separate bowl, beat together the eggs and milk until frothy.
3.Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak up the liquid.
4.In a large skillet or frying pan, heat a drizzle of oil over medium heat. Cook each slice of bread until golden brown on each side, then transfer to a plate.
5.Sprinkle each slice of bread with the cinnamon sugar mixture and serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar if desired.
