Ingredients

1 kg floury potato
50 ml all-purpose flour
500 ml milk
50 g butter or 50 g margarine
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 -3 tablespoons treacle ( optional )
Imelletty Perunalaatikko, or sweetened potato casserole, is a traditional Finnish recipe that dates back hundreds of years. Instructions

1.Peel and chop the potatoes into small cubes. Rinse them with cold water and drain well.

3.Remove from heat and drain the potatoes, reserving the milk. Transfer the potatoes to a large mixing bowl.
4.Preheat the oven to 200°C. Grease a large casserole dish with butter or margarine.

6.Add the flour, butter or margarine, salt, nutmeg, and treacle (if using) to the potatoes. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
7.Slowly pour in the reserved milk, stirring constantly, until you have a smooth, creamy mixture.
8.Pour the potato mixture into the greased casserole dish and smooth out the top.
9.Place the casserole dish in the oven and bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.
