Instructions

1.Soak dates in warm water for 30 minutes, then drain excess water and pit the dates.
2.In a food processor, pulse dates, vanilla, salt, cocoa, and shredded coconut until it becomes a thick paste.

4.Line a square pan with parchment paper and press the mixture into it evenly.
5.Melt the chocolate chips (if using) and spread over the top of the mixture in the pan.
6.Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before slicing into bars.
