50 g superfine sugar , plus
2 teaspoons sugar
50 g flour , plus
1 teaspoon flour
2 eggs
225 g strawberries , hulled and sliced
3 tablespoons strawberry jam or 3 tablespoons glaze
The German Strawberry Tart - Erdbeer Tortenboden is a classic German dessert that is perfect for summer months. Instructions

1.Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Butter and flour a 23cm round cake tin.
2.Beat the eggs and sugar together until thick and fluffy.
3.Sift in the flour and fold in gently until the mixture is just combined.
4.Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 20-25 mins until the top is lightly golden and the sponge springs back when you press it lightly with your fingertip.
5.Leave to cool on a wire rack.
6.Spread the jam or glaze over the top of the sponge, then arrange the sliced strawberries over the top.
7.Serve and enjoy!
