1 tart apple ( such as Granny Smith )
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon caraway seed
1 bay leaf
2 whole cloves
Apfelrotkoh (Braised Red Cabbage) is a classic German side dish that is often served alongside sausages or roast pork. Instructions

1.Rinse and slice the red cabbage thinly.
2.Cook bacon in a Dutch oven or large pot until crispy.

4.Add the sliced cabbage, honey, apple cider vinegar, salt, caraway seed, bay leaf, and cloves to the pot.
5.Stir to combine, covering the pot with a lid. Cook over low heat for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally until cabbage is tender.
