Bierocks, also known as runzas, are a traditional German pastry that has become popular in the American Midwest. These savory turnovers are typically filled with ground beef, onions, and cabbage. They are similar to a sandwich, but the bread is baked around the filling instead of on top. Bierocks are a great meal option for a cold day, or as a packed lunch that can be enjoyed on the go. The filling can be varied to include different vegetables, cheeses, and spices to create a unique flavor every time.

Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two baking sheets.
2.In a frying pan, cook the ground beef with onions and garlic until browned and tender. Season with salt and lemon pepper.
3.Add the chopped cabbage, Worcestershire sauce, and caraway seeds (optional) to the beef mixture. Cook until the cabbage is wilted but still slightly crunchy.
4.Roll out the bread dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into 6-inch squares.
5.Place a heaping spoonful of the beef mixture onto each square. Fold the dough over the filling, crimping the edges to seal.
6.Place the turnovers onto the prepared baking sheets and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

PROS
