Ingredients

1 head cabbage
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 cup rice , cooked
1 onion , chopped
1 cup tomato juice
1 cup water
salt and pepper

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
3.Remove any damaged outer leaves of cabbage and core it with a sharp knife.
4.Immerse the cabbage head in the boiling water and let it blanch for 10-15 minutes.
5.Remove from heat, strain and let cool.
6.Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter.
7.In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, tomato juice, water, salt and pepper.
8.Take cabbage leaves one-by-one and place 1/3 cup ground beef mixture in the centre.
9.Fold in the sides of the leaf over the filling followed by the ends, to form a tight roll.
10.Place the rolls in the prepared baking dish, seam side down.
11.Cover them with foil and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked.
12.Remove from oven, let cool and serve.
