1/2 cup confectioners ' sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons milk or 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2.Grease a 10-inch springform pan.

4.In another bowl, cream butter and 1 1/4 cups sugar until light and fluffy.
5.Add egg yolks, beating well after each addition.
6.Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients and mixing well after each addition.
7.Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
8.Fold egg whites into batter.
9.Pour batter into prepared pan.
10.Peel, core, and slice apples. Arrange on top of batter.
11.In a small bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and milk or water. Drizzle over apples.
12.Bake for 1 hour, or until cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
