1 red cabbage , coarsely shredded

1/2 lb onion , sliced ( about 2 small to medium )
2 garlic cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon caraway seed
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 cups wine , plus a little more
2 tablespoons wine vinegar

Instructions

1.Spread the shredded cabbage on the bottom of the crock pot.
2.Layer the sliced apples and onions on top of the cabbage.
3.Add the garlic, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, thyme, caraway seed, salt, pepper and brown sugar to the crock pot.
4.Pour in the wine and vinegar.
5.Cover and cook on high heat for 4-6 hours or low for 8-10 hours, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is soft and the liquid has been absorbed into the mixture.
