1 medium carrot ( sliced )
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 cup red wine vinegar
4 cups cold water
3 teaspoons vegetable oil
1/4 cup plain flour
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
10 gingersnaps

Instructions

1.Season the round steaks with salt and pepper.
2.In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the cloves, peppercorns, bay leaves, onions, sliced carrots, and celery.
3.Add the red wine vinegar and water to the bag, then add the round steaks.
4.Seal the bag and refrigerate overnight.
5.The next day, preheat the oven to 325°F.
6.In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
7.Remove the round steaks from the bag, reserving the marinade and vegetables.
8.Add the round steaks to the skillet and brown on both sides, then transfer to a baking dish.
9.In the same skillet, add the flour and sugar, stirring until browned.
10.Add the reserved marinade and vegetables to the skillet and cook until thickened.
11.Crumble the gingersnaps and add them to the skillet, stirring until dissolved.
12.Pour the sauce over the round steaks in the baking dish.
13.Cover and bake in the preheated oven for 2-3 hours, or until the meat is tender.
