Ingredients

3/4 cup butter , melted
1 cup onion , minced
1 large granny smith apple , peeled , cored and diced
1 1/2 cups german wine-cured sauerkraut , drained
2 teaspoons caraway seeds
8 phyllo pastry sheets
1/4 cup german sweet mustard
1 lb bratwurst , thinly sliced
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup light cream
3 tablespoons german sweet mustard
1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F.
2.In a large skillet, melt 1/4 cup butter over medium heat.
3.Add minced onions and sauté until caramelized.
4.Add diced apple, German sauerkraut, and caraway seeds and cook for a few minutes. Then remove from heat.
5.Lay out 1 phyllo pastry sheet on a clean surface and brush with melted butter. Repeat with the remaining 7 sheets.
6.Spread sweet German mustard over the phyllo pastry sheets, leaving a 1 inch border on each end.
7.Spoon the sauerkraut filling over the mustard.
8.Arrange slices of bratwurst on top of the filling.
9.Roll up the pastry sheets into a large roll and place it on a baking sheet.
10.Brush the remaining melted butter over the top of the roll and sprinkle paprika over it.
11.Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
