Ingredients

1 package german 's chocolate
5 tablespoons butter
1 package cream cheese
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1/2 cup unsifted flour , plus
1 tablespoon unsifted flour
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
German cream cheese brownies are a twist on classic chocolate brownies, adding a layer of creamy, tangy cream cheese filling on top of a rich chocolate base. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
2.Melt chocolate and 3 tablespoons butter over low heat; cool. Beat cream cheese with 1/4 cup butter until fluffy. Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar, eggs, 1 tablespoon flour and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla; beat well. Combine 1/2 cup flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to chocolate mixture; mix well. Stir in nuts and almond extract.
3.Reserve 1 cup chocolate mixture. Pour remaining chocolate mixture into prepared pan. Top with cream cheese mixture. Drop reserved chocolate mixture by tablespoonfuls onto cream cheese mixture. Swirl with knife for marble effect.
4.Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares.
