Ingredients

1 package granular yeast ( 1 Tablespoon )
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 teaspoon sugar ( first amount )
1/2 cup scalded milk
1/4 cup sugar ( second amount )
1/4 cup shortening or 1/4 cup oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup raisins
1 egg
2 1/2 - 2 3/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour ( divided )
2 tablespoons honey
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups icing sugar
7 tablespoons boiling water

Instructions

1.Dissolve yeast in a bowl containing lukewarm water and the first amount of sugar. Set aside to rise for 10 minutes.
2.In another bowl, mix the scalded milk, second amount of sugar, shortening (or oil), salt, cinnamon, raisins, egg, honey, and salt in a separate bowl until well blended.
3.Next, stir in the yeast mixture slowly, adding 2 cups of flour.
4.Add in the remaining flour and knead the dough well until it becomes elastic, adding more flour if necessary.
5.Place it in an oiled bowl and let it rise until it doubles in size.
6.Put the dough on a floured cutting board, pat it down, and shape it into 2-inch thick squares.
7.Let it rise for another ten minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 400°F.
8.Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
9.Blend icing sugar with boiling water and whisk the mixture until it becomes smooth.
10.Dip the doughnuts in the powdered sugar glaze. Serve it hot and enjoy!
