Cake :
1/2 cup poppy seeds
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups sour cream

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons butter
3 egg yolks , beaten

Instructions

1.Soak poppy seeds in hot water for 1 hour.
2.Preheat oven to 180C/350F. Grease and flour a 10 inch bundt pan.
3.In a large bowl, beat together eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
4.Add sour cream and vanilla extract and mix well.
5.Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add to the egg mixture and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
6.Drain poppy seeds and fold them into the batter until evenly distributed.
7.Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
8.Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
9.Meanwhile, prepare the lemon filling. In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add lemon zest, lemon juice, water, and orange juice and whisk until smooth.
10.Cook over medium-high heat, whisking constantly, until mixture comes to a boil and thickens.
11.Remove from heat and whisk in butter until melted. Slowly whisk in beaten egg yolks until well combined.
12.Let cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
13.Serve cake with warm lemon filling.
