Ingredients

1 kg all-purpose flour
1 liter luke warm milk
60 g dry yeast
50 g caster sugar
80 g soft butter
1 lemon , juice of
3 eggs ( lightly beaten )
75 g currants
100 g raisins
100 g sultanas ( or mixed peel )
200 g finely diced apples
1/2 teaspoon salt
icing sugar
sunflower oil
Oliebollen are a traditional Dutch snack, typically enjoyed during winter celebrations such as Christmas and New Year. These sweet treats are similar to a doughnut but are made with dried fruit and spices for added flavor. Oliebollen are deep-fried until crispy golden brown on the outside, with a fluffy interior. Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the dry yeast in the luke warm milk.
2.Add the all-purpose flour, caster sugar, soft butter, lemon juice, and lightly beaten eggs.
3.Mix until a smooth batter is formed and then cover with plastic wrap and leave in a warm place for 1 hour.
4.After 1 hour, add the currants, raisins, sultanas or mixed peel, finely diced apples, and salt to the batter and stir well.
5.Cover with plastic wrap again and leave to rise for a further 30 minutes.
6.Heat the sunflower oil in a deep fryer or in a large pot on the stove.
7.Use a spoon to scoop the batter mixture into the hot oil, frying 5-6 balls at a time until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
8.Repeat with the remaining batter until all oliebollen are cooked.
9.Dust generously with icing sugar and serve immediately.
