2 eggs , plus

5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup golden raisin ( optional )

Instructions

1.In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and salt.

3.Beat in the 2 eggs, then add the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough is formed.
4.Knead the dough for 10 minutes, then sprinkle in the raisins (if using) and continue kneading until they are evenly dispersed throughout the dough.
5.Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with a clean dish towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
6.Punch down the dough, then divide it into two equal parts and shape each into a loaf.
7.Place the loaves in greased bread pans, cover with the dish towel, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
8.Brush the beaten egg over the loaves, then bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
