Halupki, also known as stuffed cabbage rolls, is a traditional dish in many Eastern European countries and has become an American favorite. This hearty meal is made by wrapping a seasoned ground beef (or turkey) mixture inside cabbage leaves and smothering the rolls with a tomato soup sauce. The dish is often served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The flavors and textures of the dish vary depending on the regional recipe, but the main components of cabbage and meat remain the same. This recipe is simple and easy to follow, making it a great option for a classic homemade meal.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Boil a large pot of salted water.
2.Remove core from head of cabbage and place in boiling water. Turn down heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
3.Once cabbage leaves are soft, drain water and let the cabbage cool.
4.In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef (or turkey), salt, pepper, egg, parsley, chopped onion, chopped garlic, and cooked rice.

7.Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the oven for 1 1/2 hours. Serve hot.
