The roll is then glazed with honey and dusted with powdered sugar, making it a yummy and visually attractive addition to any table. Makowiec is perfect for celebrating special moments, such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries, proving that good food is always a great reason to celebrate.

Instructions

.In a medium bowl, combine yeast, sugar, salt, and warmed milk. Mix well and let it rest for 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
.In a separate large mixing bowl mix flour, egg, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until it becomes a dough. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
.In the meantime, combine rinsed poppy seeds, sugar, butter, raisins, ground almonds, vanilla extract, honey, and egg white in a large bowl. Mix until everything is well combined.
.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet with butter.
.Flour the countertop and the rolling pin. Divide the dough into two balls. Roll out each ball separately to 1/4-inch thick rectangles.
.Evenly spread the poppy seed filling over the rectangles, leaving a 1/2-inch margin on all sides. Starting at one end, roll up the rectangle and place it on the prepared baking sheet seam side down. Repeat the process for the second rectangle.
.Brush both cake rolls gently with lightly beaten egg white, and sprinkle them with some extra poppy seeds. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
.Let the rolls cool down before slicing them.
