Rivel Kuchen is a traditional pastry from Germany that is popular in the Midwest region of the United States. It is a sweet, yeasted pastry that is layered with a crumbly topping and a spiced syrup. The name 'Rivel' comes from the German word 'Reibekuchen', which means 'grated cake'. While the pastry is time-consuming to make, it is well worth the effort and is perfect for serving at family gatherings or special occasions.

.Gradually add 7 cups of flour, stirring until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
.Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, for about 1 hour.
.In a saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups of white sugar, 3 cups of water, 3 tablespoons of flour, 3/4 cup of milk, and 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground allspice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thick and bubbly.
.In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of flour, 1/4 cup of butter, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon until crumbly.
.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
.Divide the dough into three parts and place each in a greased 9-inch pie dish. Spread one-third of the crumb mixture over each layer. Pour one-third of the syrup mixture over each layer.
