1 bunch broccoli ( aprx . 1 1/4 pounds )
salt
1/4 cup olive oil
4 garlic cloves , thinly sliced
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes ( I use a big pinch as I love spicy food )
8 ounces rigatoni pasta
1/2 cup freshly grated pecorino romano cheese or 1/2 cup parmigiano-reggiano cheese

Instructions

1.Break the broccoli into small florets and chop the stems into small, thin pieces. Cook the broccoli in a large pot of salted, boiling water until tender. Drain and set aside.

4.Reserve 1 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta and add it to the pan with the broccoli. Stir to combine.
5.Add some of the pasta water to create a velvety sauce, stirring frequently and adding more pasta water as needed. Remove from heat and add freshly grated cheese.
