Ingredients

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 lbs large ripe strawberries
1 1/2 cups fresh grapefruit juice
1 1/2 cups dry champagne
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup Grand Marnier or 1/4 cup orange liqueur

Instructions

1.In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water and simmer until sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
2.Remove from heat and cool syrup completely.
3.In a blender, puree hulled strawberries and grapefruit juice in batches until smooth.
4.Mix strawberry mixture, lemon juice, champagne and Grand Marnier in a large bowl.
5.Pour into a large shallow glass dish and freeze, stiring occasionally until slushy and firm, usually about 4 hours.
