Ingredients

1 -2 lb ground beef ( ground chuck recommended )
1 small yellow onions ( optional ) or 1/2 large yellow onion , chopped ( optional )
3 -4 garlic cloves , minced
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
2 cans tomato sauce
2 cups water ( add a little less if simmering less than an hour )
1 -2 cup mushroom , sliced ( cremini or white button )
1 tablespoon olive oil ( optional )
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons basil
2 bay leaves
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon tarragon
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon herbes de provence
2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup red wine ( optional )
1 lb thin spaghetti
parmesan cheese or parmigiano-reggiano cheese
Nothing beats a great dinner when relaxing at home on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The hero of the meal is Sunday Ground Chuck and Mushrooms Spaghetti, a comfort food loved by just about everyone. Though it takes time to prepare, all of the ingredients come together to produce a rich, incredibly flavorful meal that leaves you feeling satisfied. This spaghetti is guaranteed to become one of your top go-to meals for days when you need a quick, easy and substantial dinner. It is best served with garlic bread and some red wine.

Instructions

1.In a large pot, cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2.Meanwhile, in a large saucepan or Dutch oven, heat olive oil (if using) over medium heat.
3.Add chopped onion (if using) and cook until translucent. Add ground beef and garlic, cook until browned, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
4.Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, mushrooms, salt, basil, bay leaves, cinnamon, celery salt, tarragon, oregano, herbes de provence, parsley, brown sugar, crushed red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
5.Stir to combine, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, or up to 2 hours for a richer flavor.
6.If using, stir in red wine during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
7.Remove bay leaves and taste for seasoning adjustments, if any.
8.Serve spaghetti with the meat sauce on top, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese or Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese.

PROS

This spaghetti recipe is hearty, delicious, and easy to make when feeding a crowd.
The beef and mushroom in the recipe bring wonderful umami flavor and the spices are very colorful.

CONS

If not conscious, the meat could be high in saturated fat and consumption should be in moderation.
It can also take some time to get the flavor out of the spices.
