1 bay leaf
1/4 teaspoon summer savory
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 can tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
2/3 cup water
1/2 lb Italian sausage
1/2 lb lasagna noodle
1/2 lb ricotta cheese
1/3 cup parmesan cheese
3/8 lb mozzarella cheese

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F.
2.In a large pot, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until golden brown.
3.Add ground beef, oregano, bay leaf, summer savory, nutmeg, salt, pepper, and brown sugar. Cook until the meat is browned, stirring occasionally.
4.Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and water. Simmer for 30 minutes.
5.Remove bay leaf and add cooked and crumbled Italian sausage to the meat sauce.
6.In a lightly greased baking dish, layer lasagna noodles, meat sauce, ricotta cheese and a mixture of Parmesan and mozzarella cheese.
7.Repeat layers of noodles and sauce, ending with a layer of cheese on top.
8.Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
