1 tablespoon beef fat
1 red onion , chopped fine
450 g ground sirloin
5 garlic cloves , crushed

156 ml tomato paste
2 teaspoons basil
2 tablespoons parsley

80 g parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon salt
250 g semolina flour
2 eggs
800 g mozzarella cheese , grated

Instructions

1.In a large pot, heat beef fat and add chopped onions. Cook until onions become translucent.

4.In a separate bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, parsley, oregano and salt. Set aside.
5.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
6.Cook the semolina flour in boiling salted water for 15 minutes. Drain and let cool.
7.In a separate bowl, beat eggs and combine with cooked semolina flour.
8.In a large baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce followed by a layer of cooked semolina.
9.Add a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture followed by a layer of grated mozzarella and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
10.Repeat layering until all ingredients are used and finish with a layer of meat sauce on top.
11.Cover baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
12.Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
