Ingredients

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 onions , chopped
1 garlic clove , crushed
1 carrot , chopped
450 g lean ground beef
400 g tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato puree
300 ml beef stock
1 pinch salt and pepper , to taste
12 sheets lasagna noodles , oven ready
50 g parmesan cheese , grated
75 g butter
75 g plain flour
800 ml milk
1 pinch nutmeg , grated
50 g cheddar cheese , grated
Lasagne is a classic Italian dish that originated in Naples. This recipe is a mouth-watering blend of beef, tomato sauce, three types of cheese, and oven-ready pasta. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 200°C. Grease a 20cm x 30cm baking dish.
2.Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onions, garlic and carrot, cook for 5 minutes or until they soften. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
3.Add tomatoes, tomato puree, beef stock, salt, and black pepper to the pan. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
4.While that's simmering, melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add flour, and stir for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk and increase heat to high. Bring to a boil, whisking constantly until it thickens. Add nutmeg and cheddar cheese, stir to mix.
5.Spread 1/4 of the beef sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Place a single layer of lasagne noodles over the sauce. Add another 1/4 of the beef sauce. Repeat layers twice, ending with the last remaining lasagne noodles. Add the white sauce over the noodles. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
6.Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
