Ingredients

1 dozen littleneck clams , in the shell
1 cup diced tomato
1/4 cup chopped green onion
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh basil
1 1/2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic
1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup cooked tri-color pasta

Instructions

1.Rinse clams under cold water, scrubbing shells with a brush if needed. Discard any clams with cracked or open shells that do not close when tapped.
2.Cook tri-color pasta according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
3.Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic, and cook for 1 minute or until fragrant.
4.Add clams, tomato, black pepper and half of the basil leaves to skillet and stir to combine.
5.Cover skillet, and reduce heat to medium-low and allow mixture to simmer for 7 minutes or until clams have opened.
6.Remove skillet from heat and discard any clams that have not opened.
7.Divide cooked pasta among bowls and spoon clam mixture over pasta. Top with remaining fresh basil leaves and chopped green onions.
