Ingredients

4 eggs , separated ( room temperature )
1 pinch salt
1/3 cup sour cream
2/3 cup ricotta cheese
4 tablespoons butter , melted
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup half-and-half ( though milk works too if your out of 1/2 & 1/2 )
1 cup mini chocolate chip ( I used a combo of dark and milk )
zest of one medium-sized orange
1/2 teaspoon almond extract and vanilla extract
Cannoli Custard Cake takes inspiration from traditional Italian cannoli, but turns it into a cake. It has a creamy custard filling, studded with chocolate chips, and a slightly crispy top layer. Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2.In a large mixing bowl, beat egg whites and salt until stiff.
3.In another bowl mix together sour cream, ricotta cheese, butter and sugar.
4.Gently mix in the yolks, the orange juice, orange zest, almond extract, vanilla extract, flour, and half-and-half.
5.Fold in the egg whites.
6.Grease an 8-inch/20 cm baking dish with butter or oil and dust it with flour to prevent sticking.
7.Mix the chocolate chips into the batter and pour it into the prepared dish.
8.Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
9.Allow the cake to cool before slicing and serving.
