Ingredients

1 lb lacinato kale , large center ribs and stems removed , cut crosswise into 1/2-inch slices ( about 2 bunches )
3 tablespoons olive oil , divided
1 medium onion , finely chopped ( about 1 1/2 cups )
8 large garlic cloves , thinly sliced
1/2 lb spaghetti
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
finely grated parmesan cheese
Spaghetti with braised kale is a classic Italian dish that is delicious, healthy and easy to prepare. Instructions

1.Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
2.Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a heavy large pot over medium heat.
3.Add onion and cook until soft and golden brown, stirring occasionally for about 20 minutes.
4.Add garlic; stir until fragrant, then add kale and remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the pot.
5.Toss until kale is wilted, then add 1/4 cup of water, cover and simmer until kale is very tender.
6.Cook spaghetti in boiling water until al dente, then drain and return to pot.
7.Add kale mixture to spaghetti and toss to coat.
8.Stir in lemon juice, parmesan, salt and pepper to adjust the taste.
