Instructions

1.In a medium saucepan, combine the 2 cups sugar, 1 cup water, and anise seeds.

10.Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
11.Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375°F.
12.Drop the dough by the teaspoonful into the hot oil.
13.Fry, turning constantly, until golden brown on all sides.
14.Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
15.Spoon the cooled syrup onto a plate and roll each pancake in the syrup to coat well.
