250 g caster sugar
125 ml cream
125 ml milk
200 g butter ( softened )
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
250 g flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
The Portuguese Caramel Cake is a classic dessert, popular in Portuguese households for centuries. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C and butter the cake tin.
2.Start by caramelizing the sugar in a pan on medium heat. Stir until the sugar turns into a golden brown liquid.
3.In a separate saucepan, heat up cream and milk on low heat. Mix in the caramelized sugar and keep mixing until all the sugar has dissolved. Once done, keep it aside.
4.In a large mixing bowl, beat butter until soft. Add in the eggs and vanilla, one by one, keep mixing until the ingredients are well combined.
5.Into the bowl, sift in the flour and baking powder. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Once done, add in the caramel mixture and mix everything until smooth.
6.Pour the mixture into the buttered baking tin. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Once done, let it cool for 15 minutes. After that flip the cake over a serving tray.
